CBD Oil in Skincare: Everything You Need to Know

CBD oil is derived from the Cannabis plant, such as marijuana or hemp. Also known as cannabidiol, it is the non-psychotropic component of cannabis.

It’s because CBD oil does not contain Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a mind-altering compound found in marijuana. that gives you the sensation of “high.” It means you will get all the benefits of the cannabis plant without getting high.

Recently CBD oil has become quite popular because of its benefits in health and skincare. Commercial skin care products manufacturers are using CBD extract or oil as their key ingredient in cosmetics.

But what wonders it can do to your skin? CBD oil contains a significant amount of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, vitamin E, and vitamin C that have beneficial effects in skin.

Continue reading to learn about the benefits you may get using CBD oil and from where you can buy them.

1. CBD Oil Can Treat Acne.

Acne is one of the most annoying and painful skin disorders most teenagers have to face. It is an inflammatory condition that commonly appears on the face, forehead, chest areas, and upper back.

Acne can occur due to excessive sebum oil produced by your skin cells that clog the hair follicles.

A research was published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. It found that CBD could prevent the cells from producing too much sebum.

Another research was published in 2016. It shows that cannabis plant possesses antifungal and antibacterial effects that may treat acne effectively.

As this is an inflammatory skin condition, some CBD inflammation products such as oils may help reduce breakouts and redness.

2. It May Treat Psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease where your immune system mistakenly attacks the healthy tissues, causing red and scaly patches all over your skin.

It occurs when your skin cells multiply ten times faster than usual. It is an extremely uncomfortable skin condition that causes inflammation and itchiness.

While this condition cannot be cured, some of its symptoms can be managed using natural remedies.

In the research published in the Journal of Dermatological Science, scientists investigated the effects of cannabinoids in treating psoriasis.

They found that cannabinoids can play a potential role in the treatment of psoriasis by inhibiting keratinocyte proliferation.

3. CBD Oil Can Soothe Puffy and Tired Eyes.

Extreme workload, pollution, and age can cause fatigue and puffiness under the eyes. Most of you may rely on the eye creams available in the market that claim to reduce the puffiness faster.

However, those commercially produced eye cream may be infused with harmful chemicals. As the area around your eyes is delicate and thinner, you need to use a product that is gentle and does not contain any harmful chemical.

CBD oil is rich in anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce the puffiness and gently tightens the delicate under eye area without irritating the skin.

This is one of the reasons some of the cosmetics companies are using CBD oil in their under eye cream.

4. It May Reduce Wrinkles & Other Aging Sign.

As you age, your skin begins to show different signs of aging. Among them, wrinkles are the first that appear on your skin.

It turns out CBD oil is rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may aid in reducing the visible signs of aging. Besides, research shows that CBD might be more powerful as an antioxidant compared to vitamin C and E.

CBD oil for anti aging

A study was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. It found cannabidiol to be more protective than ascorbate or α-tocopherol.

Free-radicals can make collagen break down faster. The antioxidant can slow down the aging process by fighting the free-radicals.

Besides, once your skin starts losing its ability to produce oil from its tiny glands, your skin becomes dry, causing fine lines and wrinkles.

Another 2008 research shows that endocannabinoids can improve lipid synthesis in the sebaceous gland.

Using CBD oil regularly may also reduce stretch marks and scars.

5. CBD Oil Can Soothe Itchiness.

Sensitive skins are prone to allergies and skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis.

Due to the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, CBD oil is found to soothe the sensitive skin.

Research published in the Dermatology Online Journal states the ability of CBD in reducing skin allergy.

Due to its therapeutic properties, this oil can also reduce itching and inflammation due to cuts, bug bites, etc.

CBD Products: Where to Find Them

Due to its medicinal value, CBD oil is getting popular day by day, inspiring the manufacturers to produce CBD oil infused products.

CBD or cannabidiol is available in many forms such as capsules, concentrate, oil, tinctures, wax, vapes, etc.

You can find these products in some shops. You can also buy them from online shops. However, it’s important to find a trusted online shop to purchase high-quality CBD oil for inflammation, pain, skin care, stress relief, etc.

Bottom Line

CBD oil is gaining a high position in skin care regime due to its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

However, the legality issue of CBD infused cosmetics around the world is a bit confusing as the regulation differs by country.

Remember, as long as the CBD oil is derived within the proper parameters it is beneficial for your skin and health. That’s why it is important to purchase CBD products from a reputed supplier.
