If you ever used essential oils due to sinus or allergies, you might be familiar with the term neti pot. The neti pot is a plastic or ceramic container designed to use for steam inhalation.

Steam inhalation is an effective way to treat chronic sinus, cold, and allergies. [1] It clears up the mucus or debris from your nasal cavity.

Using essential oils for neti pot has been popular since the ancient time. [2] Ayurvedic practitioners used this nasal irrigation system to treat various respiratory ailments.

Continue reading to get knowledge of some essential oils that you can use in a neti pot. The article also covers some tips and precautions of using a neti pot.

Why Use a Neti Pot?

A neti pot is mostly used to treat colds, allergies, and sinuses. You can also use it to dampen your dry nasal passage.

The primary benefit you can get from a neti pot is that it can make it easier for you to breathe again. It may also lessen your need for medication.

Salt water used in a neti pot matches the tonicity of your body’s blood. Thus, it makes sure the process doesn’t irritate your sinus cavities and mucus membranes.

The water then slowly poured into one nostril by tipping the head forward and turned (opposite side of the nostrils). The water passes through the sinus cavity and comes out using the other nostrils.

A continuous attempt can break down the mucus and allow the water to flow.
